Per new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a whistleblower provided evidence indicating Maxwell is working on the commutation application. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, declared in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unknown, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the warden has individually organized private meetings for Maxwell and her visitors.

These meetings reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the security risk and chance of unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other inmates, she was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to call and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The news release indicates that those writing to her would send files directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the official to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative added.

Recent Background

Recently, reports surfaced that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most detainees are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was interviewed about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own connections to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in that year while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

In the news release, Raskin also announced that he had sent a letter to Trump, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and called on the chief executive to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also posed three questions to the President.

He inquired whether Trump had discussed a possible clemency for the convict with the official or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, family or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a reply to the questions by 24 November.

In October, the US supreme court rejected an petition from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
